New Menu Tangierine Cafe Morocco Epcot

One of my favorite quick-service restaurants in Epcot is Tangierine Cafe in Morocco. So, when I heard that there were some new menu options, it was my first stop on a recent trip.

New!! Saffron Rotisserie Chicken with Yellow Rice (17.99)
This is a large serving of a half-chicken.  It was very moist and the meat was falling off the bone.  If you are concerned about the spices, don't be.  The flavor was very mild, almost too mild.  Even adding the extra sauce on top of the chicken didn't give it much flavor. I would have enjoyed having more developed spice flavor.  The rice was also bland. It was good for "plain" chicken and rice but not for what I expected as Moroccan chicken and rice.  The price tag was also a bit on the high end for quick-service dining.

New!! Meatball Platter with Yellow Rice (12.99)
Again, the meatballs and rice are good for meatballs and rice.  However, I expected Moroccan spices.  A closer look at the menu had the meatballs listed as Mediterranean. What that means is standard Italian meatballs in marinara sauce.  After all my years eating at this restaurant, that was not what I expected.  Additionally, the yellow rice was a very odd pairing for marinara sauce.  The good thing about this is that if someone in your family is not interested in trying the flavors of Moroccan food, they can have traditional meatballs there.  I do think that it should list marinara sauce on the menu to describe it more clearly. The entree is just...out of place.

Additional Menu Items
If you would like to dine at Tangierine Cafe, I highly recommend trying a Schawarma Platter.  It has a nice selection of different dips and salads along with chicken and/or lamb.  The flavors are always fresh and delicious (and not too weird if you are concerned). I think I will still keep it as my favorite item here.

Disney Springs Parking Garage Open

As we turned our car into Downtown Disney/Disney Springs and the sense of dread came over us for finding a parking spot, we were led through a series of Cast Members (at least a dozen) holding lights and directing us into the new parking garage and through the inside of the garage.
Regardless of the amount of Cast Members standing around as human traffic cones, parking the car was still confusing. We followed the one way direction of traffic for nearly 15 minutes and eventually parked in a space behind a barricade (as directed by the Cast Member). It wasn't even noon yet and it seemed nearly full already.

When we left, traffic was flowing a different direction than when we arrived.  I use the term, flowing, loosely. It was at a dead stop.  Hopefully the bugs will get worked out soon.  It did not necessarily seem like a better system yet.

The lovely new view of Downtown Disney/Disney Springs
Parking Garage Interior Elevators, Escalators, Stairs

For some reason, there are windows inside the elevators that look into the parking garage.  So, as you ride up and down you get to see all the parked cars inside. I'm going to guess that there is some plan to decorate the garage at some point to give it a bit more Disney flair.

Still some work to be done...

A Disney's Grand Floridian Resort Christmas

There are so many exciting holiday events at Walt Disney World over the Christmas Season that it's difficult to do it all.  The Magic Kingdom Christmas Party, Epcot Holidays Around the World, and Hollywood Studios Osbourn Lights Spectacular are all wonderful.  But, don't forget to check out the awesome resort decorations and activities offered over the holidays as well.
We spent an entire evening celebrating the Christmas Season at Disney's Grand Floridian Resort.

As we arrived, we were greeted with a "welcome home" and offered warm roasted chestnuts. (Available outside the resort entrance until 6 PM.)

Once inside the lobby, we were overwhelmed with Christmas.  The twinkling lights at every turn, the scent of gingerbread drifting around us, and the peppy Christmas music filling the air all come together to surround you in Christmas cheer.  A warm heart and smile are GUARANTEED!

A special addition to this year's holiday treats at the Grand Floridian Resort is a new Turkey Holiday Sandwich ($11.19) offered at Gasparilla Island Grill.  It includes stuffing, thinly sliced turkey, gravy, and cranberry sauce on a soft sub roll.  Your choice of a side of chips or cucumber salad (more like homemade pickles) is included.

For those of you who enjoy the Earl of Sandwich similar option, this is a close second.  Earl wins my vote due to the delicious toasty bread, addition of cheese, and the significantly lower price.
If you need any assistance while at Gasparilla Island Grill, be sure to look for the beautiful and friendly, Raven. She is one of those special Cast Members who makes Disney Magic with her smile.

Of course no holiday Disney trip would be complete without a stop at the REAL gingerbread house that also doubles as a sweet shop. Guests may purchase a variety of custom made treats.  They have everything from gingerbread men, to gingerbread shingles with a chocolate coating, to elaborate hand-made gingerbread houses.  Chocolate treats, gluten free, as well as sugar free options are also available.

We chose the Red Velvet Cupcake ($4.25) filled and topped with cream cheese frosting.  It was moist, delicious, and as big as my head!

We also grabbed a huge Gingerbread with Belgium Chocolate Coating Shingle ($7.75) to take home. These are always a favorite.  Both treats are easily big enough to share.

A menu of sweets with pricing is located at the Gingerbread house store so that guests may more easily place their orders. Select items are also available inside the nearby gift shop.

And what better way to end an evening of holiday celebration at Walt Disney World, than with a view of the Magic Kingdom Very Merry Christmas Party Fireworks from the boat dock at the Grand Floridian?
